I do find this article a bit disturbing. What I found that was really disturbing was the quote provided and written: "Women in her greatest perfection was made to serve and obey man." The role of women in Shakespeare's time was to obey all men. I think that being a female in this time, in general, is difficult. Some unmarried women were seen as being witches. Most women were beaten into discipline. Although women were allowed to be taught several parts in education, I disagree strongly with the fact that they weren't allowed to attend any universities. I also disagree with the marriages during this time. Women shouldn't be obligated to get married. They should have the choice, whether or not if they do. I understand that having kids is a part of one's religion or tradition but they should act as a family and decide whether they are ready. Not all women want children and men would have to respect that. The positive aspect of being a women is that they were granted an education.

i think this articile is a bit disturbing because most women today dont get marred and its ok but back then it was looked down apon. I dont think that women would be able to hadle it if they had to get married and it wasn.t an option because many women dont think its necessary to get married. It was bad enough that you had to get married but you also had to obey all men that would not work at all in this day and time because mamny men have changed and wqaht they may say to do is not bet for women it's best for themself's. I personaly disagree with bouth of those rules because i think that all of that is uncalled for because women have a mond of therir own and shoud be able to do what they want

This article was a bit disturbing mostly because this is not how we see things these days. I dont like the fact that these women HAD to get married, i mean it should be there choice. And for people to call them witches on the account of only that fact is tragic. Also i dont see a problem in them having to obey there fathers but all man members to their family! Thats alittle to heroic dont you think?

I truely found this article was a bit disturbing based on how the women were treated during this time period. The most difficult thing about being a women in shakesphere time is that women basically had no right in their lives while living. They had to get married to a man of someone elses choice at the age twelve. They not only do they have to obey their father but the rest of the males in the family as well. I feel thats over the top. A positive aspect of being a women at this time is that they still get education.

Women were granted somewhat of an education, but deprived of going to universities. I believe that was wrong because it seems as if they were limiting their intellectual abilities. Women were no doubt capable of doing much more than they already did. Although it is unpleasant to read about I understand their point of view. This was a time where a lot of corruption was taking place. It was not right of other people to think that unmarried women were witches, they probably could not find anyone to marry or no man wanted to marry her. What I found the most repulsive was that women were lead to believe that they were inferior to men.

Thw woman didnt really have that muc of a role in shakesphere's time. They were to be housewives. Althought they did get education it was of no use really because they didnt have any means to use it.

In Shakespeare's time, basically women weren't allowed to do anything. They were always controlled by either father, husband or brother (any other male in the household ). I think that that's not fair because a lot of women are capable of doing a lot of the same things men do. But because of their unfair laws, a womans job was to do daily chores and make children to take care of.If any woman refused to do so, they were mistreated by being whipped by the owner himself. And if you weren't married you were considered to be a witch?!...I mean seriously who does such an absurd thing?!

WoW! THAT WAS REALLY DISTURBING IT GOT ME! Well the most difficult thing a women had no option of doing was the marriage once more it was always something they were forced to do. I think it would have been really hard for the women to do this b/c sometimes women really dont want to get married at a young age or rather prefer to keep on with their lives and not stick with one thing or person. Its just not right for women to not have their education and had to learn how to govern a household and become skilled in all housewifely duties. And tell me about that part NO CAN DO! -Women had to obey all male members to whatever they said to be done hey excuse me us women have our rights and the right to say something come on now and then get a big punishment! Get beaten with a whipping stool no! I disagree with everything you guys out there who really care for us women should take care of us and be more caring now! if u dnt wanna loose us lol! ;)

Woman were treated Poorly back then. Aint that kind of messed up? Having an education but not being able to go to college. That is like having a driver license but not being able to drive because of your gender. I feel like woman should have the same respect as man. And what is up with the parents being able to pick out who the daughter marries ate age 12? I think a girl should be able to spend some time with her fiance and pick out who SHE want to marry not her parent.

I think it was unfair how woman were treated because they were always looked down upon. If they were married they had to pay their husbands and obey every man in their family. They were considered inferior to men and it was quoted by the bible so they really believed it. I wouldnt want to live in aplace where only women born to the rich were put in school and others were only there to work.

Woahhhh...this iS disturbing!!!!! The role women had was really unfair. Women had to obey men all the time there father, brother and husband. Women back then didnt have it easy they couldnt do anything they wanted to do is like they couldnt speak for themself. i personatly could have lived this way i would have exploded!!! The most difficult about being a women at that time was not have no fun at all because men would dominate them. They couldnt live their life as they wanted to. The only good thing about being a woman was being eudcuated and learning different languages.

Women were the trophies of the males were seen as nothing less. Expected to marry a man and depend on him for everything have a few kids with him and that’s the end. In my opinion a woman was to worship a man the end. If I were living in that time I would have been killed for disrespecting men. I think that hardest part about being a woman back then would have to be, total obedience I would be fighting the urge to rebel and it would be pure torture I’m glade to be living in this day and age.

It all depends on what kind of family the women were born in. Women that were born in high class usually had a better life style than women born in the lower and middle class. High class women could learn, they were allowed to be taught diffirent things such as dance and literature. Many of the example women that didnt let any man rule them are from the high class society. Well, this would be a given since who would think that the Queen of England is a witch? Its easier just to think the lady down the street who doesnt want to get married while all the other girls do is a witch. Women in this time period didnt have a voice it was ruled by men and all they could do was give them children and be good wives. This would have been torture for me. I would have let Queen Elizabeth be an example for me and just not get married and not let any man try to tell me what to do especially if the way they thaught women to be obediant is to beat them.

I find it utterly outrageous that a woman was expected to be married by the age of 12. i I remember being 12 and I cant imagine getting married. Also, the fact that a dowry had to be paid for a bride is very demeaning. It makes Shakesperian women seem like property( they were probably treated like that). Attending school is the right of a woman and not a privilege. It kind of makes me think that ancient men were intimidated by women(modern times too) and kept them from gaining the knowledge they need to rule!

The most difficult thing of being a woman at this time is that you couldn't get a education. I think everyone should have a education and should know the history of their communities.Woman are not always had to be good for the house. They should have equal rights as the same as everyone else. The good thing about being a elizabethan woman is that they could be a queen like queen elizabeth.

omgsh that was disturbing o_O. . .in shakesphere's time the women could not do about anything, and& it was crazy how they had to listen to all the males in the family and& where forced to be married at a very young age its stupid. A positive thing about women in this time is that we dont have to obey every male and we can use our education instead of putting it to waste.

I think my most difficult time as a women in shakespeare time is the arrange of marriage i dont feel its my parents choice of who i see myself marrying. The one thing that hurts me the most is if i was in shakespeare time i wouldnt have a voice to speak because i know i wouldnt be heard so i would rather not speak. At the end of the day i would still be marrying a complete stranger and be meeting my husband for the 1 st time

it was really rough for women back then. they didn't even have the right to walk around by themselves that just isn't right. it wouldn't be as fun to annoy girls back then as i can now. back then they would just take it without saying anything. while now they have a lot to say and i would make a funny conversation out of it. back then really sucked the present is awsome

The woman of shakespears time were thought to take care of their homes and they weren't alound to go to school. I think the most diffcult thing about being a woman at this time is that you had no education everyone around you was smarted then you. I honestly dont think that there was anything positve about being a woman at this time. I think everything starts with an education, something that most of these woman didnt have.

Back in time in Shakespear time women were tought to stay home nd not go to school. They couldnt go and get an education. What i really didnt like about this is how they couldnt go to school. They saw people around them and saw that the other people were smarter. Also they had to stay home and take of there husbands

This article was very intresting and disturbing at the same time. "Women in her greatest perfection was made to serve and obey man." Me as a female, this quote is worthless to me. I will never "serve and obey man". Back in those day's women were taught to stay home, take care of the husband and not go to school. This is wrong, a women should do as she pleases in her education and not take care of her husband. He has legs and arms, he could do things for himself. I do not believe in this society.
